May Rock Star Reads

Hello,

So because May was such a crazy month for me (end of the school year, my job situation doing a complete 360 unexpectedly, my living situation changing, etc..) I was unable to post my must reads list at the start of the month for May but I still wanted to do something. I decided that before I posted my June must reads list I would post a May Rock Star Reads list (a list of books that I bought/got/ or found to be totally awesome and were new this month). So without further ado lets jump right in!!

Book One: Aurora Rising

30075662This book clearly had to be on this list. I love Amie and Jay so much and I recently finished the Illuminae Files (the review for Obsidio will be up later this week) and while the series hurt my heart at times it also made me feel so many other emotions and I absolutely love those books. So when I heard they were writing another book series together and if I pre-ordered I could get another book set in the Illuminae world I was sooo in. I really wanted to get one of the pretty purple edged copies but unfortunately, my fingers were not fast enough on the check out button to get a copy. However, I am still super happy to have my copy and beyond excited to get my little Illuminae novella soon.

Book Two: Again, But Better

41147279This is another book I knew would be on my must reads list for May. I will admit I only found Christine’s channel like a year ago but putting that aside the plot sounds a lot like something I would totally be into. First of all, I love college contemporary/ dramas and when you add London into the mix I am totally sold. I love London with a crazy passion so reading a book about a girl studying abroad in London is totally for me.  I can not wait to dive into this very soon.

Book Three: With The Fire On High

38739562This is another book I was crazy excited for! I have not read the Peot X yet which is this author’s other book but I know they are not a series and honestly, the description of this book and the cover had me at hello. The first time I saw this cover my thought was it is drop dead gorgeous and I can not wait to have it on my shelf. It came out the same day as Aurora Rising so I was super excited for my book mail to come that day, for the two new beautiful books to be apart of my shelf.  I have not yet had the chance to read this one yet however, my local library got the audiobook recently and I am thinking it may be what I listen to while I work on moving later this summer!

Book Four: Somewhere Only We Know

40864866May is so full of new amazing releases it is hard to pick what to get and what to read and when to start reading it because I always want to start reading it right away once I get it even if I am reading something else at the time. However, I usually make myself wait until I have finished my current read. But this was one of the books that when I got it I had a very hard time waiting. I love Maurene Goo’s books and this one is no exception, it is downright adorable and I loved every minute of it! If you have never read a Maurene Goo book definitely go check one out ASAP.

Book Five: Her Royal Highness

41734205I love Rachel Hawkins and her books. Back when I was a teen I came across her Hex Hall books at my local library during a trying time in my life and those books still stick with me. I have my full set of them on my bookshelf and was lucky enough to actually get one of them signed! So when I saw she was writing something new I was definitely interested. I bought the first book under its old title The Royals when it first came out and now I almost want to rebuy it to have the covers match (plus these covers are straight adorable). I have not yet dove into this series but I have heard nothing but good things about it and I am definitely looking forward to diving in this summer.

Book Six: The Kingdom

40864907I only recently heard about this one, then I did some research on it and knew I wanted to have it. The plot sounds amazing, thrilling, and intriguing plus the cover looks amazing. I have yet to purchase this book but I do have some Kindle credits and may pick it up on ebook to give it a try very soon! Additionally, some of my favorite bookish friends have been talking about this book and have said amazing things about it so that only sways me more to want to give it a try!

Book Seven: There’s Something About Sweetie

35583527This is another book I have been looking forward to for a while. I have read When Dimple Met Rishi (a book I picked up on a whim at a book sale and ended up loving) but I have not read Twinkle’s story yet. When I first saw this book I loved the purpleish cover (purple is jam) and was even more excited when I read the summary and learned about my future fictional gal pal Sweetie. If you have not yet read any of these books I would definitely recommend picking them up! They are adorable and totally swoon-worthy summer reads.

Book Eight: Fake It Till You Break It

40848323I have actually already read and reviewed this amazing contemporary beauty! I was super lucky to receive an ARC of this book a while back and when I was in a little rut in my life I gave this a read and all of its contemporary adorableness gave me the jolt I needed to get back into the swing of things. Mia and Jake have such an adorable story and once again I am such a sucker for a cute cover, so this book was totally for me. If you have not already go check it out and if you need more information go check out my review on my book reviews page!

Book Nine: Symptoms of a Heartbreak

40864968This is yet another book I have been excited for. The plot summary is adorable, the cover cute, and it just seems like it was made for me to read it. It’s a romantic comedy type book and I love books and movies like that! Our main character is also a young doctor to be exact a prodigy which just adds more intrigue for me. Additionally, the fact that she is 16 and a full-on doctor had my undivided attention because most of us at 16 are worried about prom not saving people’s lives. So if you are looking for some fun romance this summer go check this out!

There are many other books I wanted to talk about in this post for example These Witches Don’t Burn and Let Me Hear a Rhyme however, I did not want to make this post super long so I decided to stop at nine but definitely go check out those titles as well!
